I thought I’d share another simple thing while I’m working on my latest crochet project. This is my homemade deodorant. I’ve never found anything better either homemade or store-bought. It won’t keep you dry, but that’s not good for you anyway. But you will not stink!! This stuff really works.

Here’s the recipe:

4 T coconut oil

2 tsp. baking soda

3 T diatomaceous earth

3 T cornstarch

Melt the coconut oil, then mix in the dry ingredients. That’s it.  I put mine in the frig to solidify faster. Note that this will melt in warm temperatures (you can see it melting on my fingers in the last picture). When it does, I just dip my finger in and apply it that way.

You can try replacing the diatomaceous earth with a different starch, but I don’t know if it would work or not. I bought a bag of the stuff just for this deodorant and it lasts forever.

And in case you’re wondering, I have very sensitive skin. I had to stop using commercial deodorants because my underarms we’re getting inflamed. The small amount of baking soda in this recipe does not bother me. But it is essential. It won’t keep odor away without it.

I hope you try this! If you do, let me know how it works for you.  One other tip: I store this in a plastic container so it’s easy to pop out. It looks prettier in a jar, but it’s hard to work with that way.
