This throw was inspired by a photo I saw of big, dark clouds over a field with a line of black and white houses in the center.  It was so striking that I wanted to try and re-create it in yarn.  With a variety of simple stitches and a unique color combo, I think I succeeded!

The finished throw is designed to be like artwork for your home decor, but when you throw in how warm and cozy it is, it becomes functional artwork! How cool is that?

As always, I’d love to see your photos if you make this and care to share. You can find me @simplethingscrochet on Instagram and Facebook.

Hdc – half double crochet

Dc – double crochet

Notes:

  1. Except where noted, beginning chains don’t count as stitches.
  2. Note that in Row 45 when you are starting the shell rows, you will only skip 1 after your first sc which is unlike the usual pattern, after that you will skip 2 as normal.
  3. Stitch markers are optional but recommended to keep your rows even.  I always put a stitch marker in the first stitch of a row so I know where to put the last stitch when I come back around.
