Spring Mug Cozy

It doesn’t get much simpler than this.  An easy mug cozy stitched in half double crochet with the ends sewn together. Done in pretty pastels for spring!

Instructions: Start with a slip stitch. Chain 30 or as many as you need to fit your mug. Skip 2 chains, then Half Double Crochet (HDC) in each stitch across. *Turn, chain 2 (counts as first stitch), HDC in each stitch across. Don’t skip the first stitch. See photo below.* Repeat from * to * until the cozy is as wide as you like. I usually keep mine at about 6 rows. Bind off and cut the yarn but leave a long tail for sewing. Whip stitch the ends together, and weave in any loose ends.

After you turn and chain 2, make your first HDC in the stitch indicated below.

Leave a long tail of thread for sewing the sides together.

Yay!! A pretty little cozy to protect your hands from that piping hot tea!
